A very peachy thanksgiving at Zion NTNL Park

NOT thanksgiving for the Canadians, but they remained grateful for things like family and food.

Thanksgiving, Zion National Park, 2016. Another thing that makes us laugh about the Canadians, they do celebrate their own thanksgiving, just not on the same day as Americans. Together, we made reservations at a place that we passed while driving into the park. The sign said something like "$15.99 ALL YOU CAN EAT THANKSGIVING DINNER" although it seemed impossible that the building was in fact a restaurant and we were certain was a place which was now permanently closed. We (almost for fun) called to see if they would answer, and they did. Out of panic and hilarious delight, I made us a reservation. The reservations were made for 6pm, and after a small 3 mile hike, we find ourselves right on time for dinner. When we get inside, we are the only people in the restaurant/gift store. The chef comes out to greet us in a full white cap and everything. They had run out of Turkey. Devastating. We all stared at him without an ability to speak until he could come up with a solution for us. "Ham dinner it is! And you know what? It's on the house!" He sat us down as we were practically elated from surviving our near death experience. We ended up being charged for the pie.
